Who we are
Haiqo (haiqo.app) is a learning platform for schools: quizzes, exams, presentations, readings, classroom tools and learning games. It is run by Merdan Kaibov, Strada Balta Albina 9, București, Romania. For anything about your data, write to merdan.kaibov@ichb.ro.
Schools decide who uses Haiqo: a school or institution administrator creates the accounts of its teachers and students. For the data of a school's users, the school is the data controller and we process the data on its behalf; we are the controller only for data we need to run the service itself (for example sign-in and security).
What we collect
- Accounts: name, email address or username, password (stored only as a secure hash), the school, the role (teacher, student, administrator…) and classes. Young students may sign in with a picture password instead.
- Guests who join a live game or presentation with a code: the first name, last name, class and school they type in.
- Learning activity: answers, scores, results, progress in quests and games, time spent on readings and assigned materials, and answers to polls, word clouds and open questions.
- What teachers make: quizzes, exams, presentations, readings and pictures or PDF files they upload.
- Technical data: a sign-in cookie (needed to keep you signed in) and basic server logs used to keep the service working and secure. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
Classroom tools that use the camera or the microphone (for example the Noise-o-meter) work inside the browser: the picture and the sound are not recorded or uploaded.
How we use it
- To provide the service: sign-in, classes, assignments, live games, results and reports for teachers and schools.
- To send service emails (for example password resets and messages from the Haiqo team, which you can unsubscribe from).
- To keep Haiqo secure and working, and to fix problems.
We do not sell personal data, we show no advertising, and we do not use students' data to build marketing profiles.
Google user data
Sign in with Google gives us only your name and email address, to find or create your Haiqo account.
Import from Google Slides asks for access only to the files you choose in Google's own file picker (the drive.file permission). We read the presentation you pick once, to copy its slides, text and pictures into your Haiqo presentation. We cannot see any other file in your Google Drive, we do not change or delete your files, and we do not keep your Google access after the import.
Import a PowerPoint file works the same way: you choose a .pptx file in your Google Drive or upload one in Google's picker (an uploaded file stays in your Drive). Google turns it into a temporary Google Slides copy, made by Haiqo in your Drive, which Haiqo deletes right after copying the slides.
Haiqo's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not used to train AI models.
Where the data is kept, and who helps us
Your data is stored in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). We use these service providers, each only for what is listed:
- Amazon Web Services (EU, Frankfurt): hosting the website, storing uploaded files, sending emails.
- Neon (EU, Frankfurt): the database.
- Cloudflare: real-time connections for live games.
- Google: Sign in with Google and the Google Slides import, when you use them.
- GIPHY: searching GIFs in the presentation editor (only the search words are sent).
- ElevenLabs: turning texts written by teachers into spoken audio, when they use it.
- Anthropic: suggesting quiz questions from a topic or text a teacher gives, when they use it (no student data is sent).
How long we keep it
We keep data while the school uses Haiqo. When an administrator deletes an account, a class or a quiz, its data is deleted. A school can ask us to delete all of its data when it stops using Haiqo.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to receive a copy of it, or to object to or limit how it is used. Students and parents can ask their school or write to us at merdan.kaibov@ichb.ro. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Romania: ANSPDCP, dataprotection.ro).
Children
Haiqo is used by children in schools, under their school's responsibility. We collect only what is needed for learning, and children's data is never used for advertising.
